Whipped honey, also known as creamed honey, is a versatile spread I love for its smooth, airy texture. This recipe transforms regular honey into a luxurious treat that is easy to make and even easier to enjoy.
Its light and fluffy consistency makes it perfect for spreading on toast, drizzling over pancakes, or adding a sweet touch to my favorite beverages and desserts. I use it as a topping for yogurt, a sweetener for tea, or even a flavorful addition to baked goods.
Ingredients
The only ingredient you will need to make whipped honey is honey! I prefer raw, unfiltered honey for its rich flavor and natural goodness. You can also use crystalized honey for whipping.
How To Make Whipped Honey
Step 1: Add the honey to the bowl of a stand mixer and attach the whisk.
Step 2: Whisk for 15-20 minutes on medium speed.
Step 3: The honey will turn pale and will be light.
Step 4: Transfer into a clean container or mason jar and store.
Expert Tips
- Ensure the honey is at room temperature before whipping. Cold honey can be too thick to whip properly.
- Crystalized honey can be used for whipping. However, before whipping, place it in a warm water bath for a few minutes to dissolve the crystals.
- A stand mixer with a whisk attachment is ideal for whipping honey. It allows for even aeration and a smooth, fluffy texture.
- Store this creamed honey in an airtight container at room temperature. Over time, it may separate slightly; just give it a quick stir to bring it back to its fluffy state.
How To Use Whipped Honey
I find this creamed honey to be incredibly versatile, and I use it in a variety of ways. I spread it on toast, biscuits, or pancakes for a sweet and creamy topping. Drizzling it over yogurt, oatmeal, or fruit adds wonderful flavor. I like to top it on my Indian oatmeal breakfast bowl.
You can even incorporate it into baking recipes for a smooth, sweet touch in muffins, breads, and cakes. Whipped honey also makes a fantastic dip for fresh fruit or a delightful addition to cheese boards.
