Trim the tough ends of the asparagus spears by snapping or cutting them off.
Place the trimmed asparagus spears in a single layer in the preheated air fryer basket. Brush with oil. Sprinkle salt and pepper over the oiled asparagus spears and toss to distribute the seasonings evenly.
Cook the asparagus in the air fryer for 6-8 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through the cooking time to ensure even cooking. The asparagus should be tender-crisp and slightly charred.
Once cooked, remove the asparagus from the air fryer and serve immediately.
